Front Wheel Replacement

Post  Fred on Fri May 31, 2013 7:05 am

I can never remember thecorrect procedure for reinstalling the front wheel.

?Tighten axel? What torque?

Bounce shocks Then tighten pinch bolts?

I own a MOTORCYCLE. I bought it so I could ride it at EVERY opportunity. It is a tool, method of transportation and a source of thrill and enjoyment. I am BLESSED!

Fred the manual says...
put the wheel between the fork legs and insert the axle from the left side. Line up the index mark with the fork leg. Tighten the left axle pinch bolts to 16 lb/ft (22 N-m). Install the axle bolt and tighten to 44lb/ft (59 N-m), Then tighten the right axle pinch bolts 16 lb/ft (22 N-m). Install your right front brake caliper and torque to 23 lb/ft (31 N-m).
Loosen the left axle pinch bolt and bounce the front end against the brake several times to seat the axle. Re-tighten the left axle pinch bolts to 16 lb/ft (22 N-m). Put your fender back on and go ride. thumbup grn
